Once again we’re dipping into YoChicago’s extensive video vault of summer drives through the north and North Shore suburbs.
Winnetka District 36 public school students attend one of three K-4 neighborhood elementary schools before they all come together at The Skokie School (5-6), Carleton Washburne (7-8) and New Trier High School.
There are very few locations in Winnetka where children (and parents) can have the luxury of a less than 5-minute walk to public school from pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade. The 1200 block of Ash St is one of those locations, and there are currently two homes for sale on the block. The above video takes you on a leisurely drive along the block on a sunny late-summer day, pausing to comment on the price at which homes on the block have sold.
Our open house pick is at 1209 Ash, priced after a recent reduction at $599,000. It’s a block north of the architecturally iconic Crow Island School (video), and two blocks south of The Skokie School and Carleton Washburne.
The home last sold 3 years ago for $750,000. It features 3 bedrooms, 4 full baths, a separate dining room, a family room that the listing says could be a main-level master (4th) bedroom, and a finished lower level. The home is open Sunday, February 6, from 2 to 4.
A few doors west, on the opposite side of the street, 1220 Ash is a 4-bedroom, 3 ½ bath, 3,591 square foot home listed for $1,250,000. It’s not scheduled open this weekend.
