Wrigleyville's busy streetscape now super-sized

Photo courtesy of Crain's Chicago BusinessFor most people, a neighborhood is defined as much by what it looks like as what it contains. So what does that say about the residents of Wrigleyville? There’s no question that most signs on Clark Street, especially those clustered around Addison Street, are as bold and colorful as possible, trying to compete for the business of the post-game crowd.

But add to the Bud Light Bleachers of Wrigley Field this McDonalds billboard, which functions as a working sun dial, pointing to a different breakfast food each hour. Does McDonalds think people in Wrigleyville are too dumb to know when it’s appropriate to eat a McGriddle (or if, for that matter)? Are potential buyers in Wrigleyville turned on or off by the visual funhouse that is this area’s streetscape? And how would you feel if this billboard cast its shadow (quite literally) over your neighborhood and was the view from your McCondo?
