YoChicago launches YoRents, online speed-dating for renters and landlords

Looking for an apartment in Chicago? Have you ever placed an apartment-wanted ad on Craigslist and wondered whether any landlords would see it? Did your apartment-wanted ad trigger a flood of deceptive come-ons from rental services?

Have you ever responded to a dozen Craigslist apartment ads, only to learn that none of them were actually available at the stated price?

Suppose you could place a single, free, quick, anonymous apartment-wanted ad detailing what you’re looking for, and be certain that it will be seen by multiple pre-screened landlords who have apartments in your preferred neighborhood(s)? With the launch of YoRents, that’s exactly what you can do.

Landlords who have apartments that meet your requirements will respond to your ad via YoRents without being given your email address. Think of it as online speed-dating for renters and landlords. When you meet a match you can take the conversation offline and head for your new apartment.

We think YoRents will become the fastest, easiest, most efficient way for renters and landlords to find each other.

YoRents‘ initial coverage area is limited to Downtown / Loop, Near North, Lincoln Park and Lakeview East and West apartments. Landlords and management companies who have properties in these neighborhoods can sign up for a 90-day free trial. Landlords with 1,000s of units have already signed on to participate.

We expect that apartment rental services will not be pleased with the launch of YoRents, and may attempt to spam it, as they have every other online service. Rental service agents are not allowed to register as renters at YoRents, even if they’re genuinely seeking an apartment to rent for their own account. A valid email address is required to register as a renter, and we’ll do our best to enforce Section 3 (a) of our Terms of Use against any rental agent who violates its provisions.
