15 Racine meets its neighbors

15 Racine

Some readers should recognize this construction site thanks to its next-door neighbor, the oversized door of Big Monster Toys, the subject of a “Name the Nabe” post a few weeks ago. The development is 15 Racine, a five-story condo building at the corner of Racine Avenue and Madison Street that will have eight homes and ground-level retail space.

According to Jason Vondrachek, the managing broker of Quest Realty, construction stalled last year when one of the owners of Big Monster Toys requested that the city evaluate the building’s shoring. Winter had already begun by the time evaluations were completed, further delaying construction. Despite the snag, construction has started up again, and five of the building’s eight condos have been sold.

All of the condos in 15 Racine are three-bedroom / two-bath units. Garage parking that formerly sold for $30,000 is now included with the purchase of a home.

The remaining units include a fifth-floor penthouse with three balconies and a rooftop deck that’s listed in the $660s, a second-floor unit with a 600 square-foot garage deck listed in the $610s, and a third-floor unit with a similar layout but smaller outdoor spaces that’s listed in the $590s.

Sales started last summer. Vondrachek says he expects deliveries to begin in September.
