Skybridge's slow sales blamed on larger, pricier units

skybridge.jpgWe’ve often wondered why Skybridge was so slow to sell out. A couple of months ago, Yo noticed a banner across the building pleading for someone to buy the remaining one or two units, after the building sat on the market for several years. Ok, the banner didn’t say that in so many words, but Yo knows how to read between the lines.

Architecturally, Ralph Johnson’s building was an intelligent addition to the skyline and a critical success, but, of course, critics don’t have to live in the places they write about, and smart homebuyers are perhaps the toughest critics of all.
According to Yo’s sources, the problem with Skybridge was that the units were too big, and therefore priced higher than people were prepared to pay for a home in the West Loop, particularly when they might be able to find something slightly smaller in a hotter location.
