Karma for Magellan at Lakeshore East

parkhomesblog.jpgIt seems that the latest trend in townhomes is to offer private elevators for aging baby boomers. That’s how Magellan Development Group is appealing to potential buyers at Parkhomes, its collection of $1 million-plus three-story lakefront townhomes at Lakeshore East. Metropolitan Development Enterprises has come up with the same idea for Laurel Park at Highland Park, as we mentioned previously.
Speaking of Magellan, the company tells Yo that it came up with the idea of building the townhomes as a buffer between its Lakeshore East collection of high-rises and the ugly boxy garages at the bases of some of the older high-rises close by.

Perhaps those older high-rises are proof that karma is at work in the architectural world. Although some of the new Lakeshore East high-rises are nothing short of spectacular, Magellan has been responsible for more than its fair share of eyesores in downtown Chicago over the years.
