Solomon Cordwell Buenz gives a shout-out to Lucien Lagrange

It’s so nice to see architects without egos. The latest Mr Nice Guy is Jim Curtin, the Solomon Cordwell Buenz architect who designed the Mandarin Oriental Tower. Actually, it was a team effort, headed jointly with colleague Martin Wolf, as Curtin takes pains to tell Yo. We asked Curtin his favorite non-Solomon Cordwell Buenz building and he said it was Lucien Lagrange‘s Erie on the Park (see picture by Chicago Architecture).

“It’s very expressive,” Curtin said. “It contrasts with other buildings in that area and is a creative use of glass and steel.”
