A Kardas Photography display at Wishbone in Lake View

We began showcasing the visual artistry of Michael Kardas in our print publications, twenty-five years ago. Ever since, I’ve leapt at every opportunity to see his work, which spans a wide array of subjects.

Despite the scope of Kardas’ subject-matter range, all of his photographs are recognizable by the rigor of their composition and their emphasis on “capturing light.”

I’ve accompanied Michael on many photo shoots at venues around the city and suburbs – and far above them. He has a habit of being in command of whatever situation he’s in, and is unfailingly good humored, quick-witted and intensely focused on his craft.

Earlier today I stopped by Wishbone, 3300 N Lincoln Ave, where Michael was setting up a display of his photography that will run through the end of July. The limited-edition photographs come in various sizes, and are available for purchase.

You can meet Michael Kardas – an experience I highly recommend – at a reception for the photo-artist at Wishbone, Wednesday, July 11, from 6 to 9 p.m. Wine, soda and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
