A slice of utopia in the Fulton Market District

We often hear about turf wars between residents, retailers and wholesalers in the Fulton Market District, as they vie for supremacy, but it’s refreshing to hear of instances when the different groups are in accord. Artist Joshua Height seems to be a good example of someone who utilizes the unique neighborhood to its full potential. Height lives in a loft in a converted fortune cookie factory on Fulton Market, happy to count a chicken processing plant and a food distributor as neighbors.
He operates his custom furniture business Brickermade, out of the first floor of the building. Height’s furniture designs are inspired by, and crafted from the scraps of stainless steel and timber that his industrial neighbors pass on to him when they no longer need them.

Completing the cycle of ‘West Loop-as-self-sustaining-food chain,’ Height sells his funky side tables, wine racks and bed frames furnishings to hip local businesses, one of which is Randolph Wine Cellars.
