A Wrigleyville slum for the dead?

No, not Wrigley Field. The Cubs ain’t dead yet.

That’s the Sun-Times take on Jewish Graceland, a cemetery that’s perhaps a future condo site.

Barbara, a visitor we met there this morning, has a different take. It’s “an untouched, lovely place” where she can speak the names of the dead in hopes that hers will be spoken some day.

The benchmark for slums for the dead is the Recoleta, in Buenos Aires (video), a national treasure that’s been heavily looted and vandalized in recent years. It’s probably not in the Sun-Times travel budget.
