Lexington Square residents are about to gain a much-needed neighborhood amenity: a new grocery store just a few blocks north on Halsted Street. Gazette Chicago reports that a new Cermak Fresh Market will open at the old Bridgeport Jewel-Osco space at 3033 S Halsted St in early 2011. The 18,000 square-foot store will carry “a larger selection of various foods” than the old Jewel-Osco, “including a full array of fish, dairy, meat, bakery, and hot foods, as well as non-perishables.”
The store will be six blocks north and a couple blocks east of Lexington Square, putting it roughly the same distance from the new rowhome community as U.S. Cellular Field. Lexington Square’s three- and four-bedroom rowhomes, located near the intersection of 37th and Sangamon streets, feature granite countertops, hardwood floors, high ceilings, private roof decks with skyline views, and two-car garages. Prices start in the $350s.
