The venerable Old Town Art Fair and its third-rate knock-off, the Wells Street Art Festival, are both on tap for this weekend. The latter was designed, cynically, to siphon traffic away from the former. It was a shameful exercise from the start.
If you’re going for the art and the ambiance, head for the Old Town Triangle and the true Old Town Art Fair, north of North Avenue. Your $5 donation benefits local youth groups, preservation projects and schools.
If you see the tarnished arches of Old Town, above, you’re in the wrong place, and your money will benefit less worthy causes.
