BackYard Andersonville rowhomes draw a crowd

The truly awful weather on Sunday didn’t deter a steady stream of buyers and brokers from attending the first open house for the BackYard Andersonville rowhomes.

The model was being completed just minutes before the scheduled opening time, and half a dozen buyers were already on the scene when I arrived. I hung around for a while to listen to buyer comments and questions.

The model unit was an 18-foot wide 2-bedroom, 2-bath with a media room / office. Only standard finishes were included in the model.

The clean, crisp lines of the Duravit and Grohe master bath generated a number of positive comments.

Several of the buyers had already signed contracts and were surprised to learn that the units were more spacious than what they’d envisioned based on the floor plans.

Other features that elicited positive reactions were the size of the yards, the ceiling and window heights, the attached 2-car garage and the fact that the rowhomes are only two stories.

Ten of the 13 Phase I units in the 23-unit project were under contract prior to the model opening. Phase I units will be ready for occupancy beginning next month. Phase II construction for the remaining units is expected to start in March. The remaining units are priced from $429,900.

Wintrust Mortgage’s Kelly Price, a preferred lender for the project, was on hand to field buyer questions on financing. Conventional financing on the fee simple homes is available with as little as 5% down and long-term rate locks are available, Price reported.

Check back in a few days for a video tour of the model.
