Claretian Associates has built more than 130 affordable homes and apartments in South Chicago, located on Chicago’s far South Side. Here, Executive Director Angela Hurlock shows Joe Askins of YoChicago.com and NewHomeNotebook.com around a few blocks where these new homes went up, and talks about the history of Claretian’s efforts. Buyers can purchase single-family homes in South Chicago for less than $200,000, and can qualify for as much as $60,000 in assistance grants, Hurlock says.
