Do demolitions bring progress along Motel Row?

Sharmin, a YoChicago writer in Lincoln Square, has been keeping us current on what’s happening along “Motel Row” on North Lincoln Avenue. It seems the demolition of the Stars Motel, the most recent victim of gentrification in the area, is nearly complete. The dozen or so kitschy motels, relics of a bygone era, are/were awful fun to drive by, but community and city officials decided they had to gussy up the neighborhood to get stores like Starbucks to move in.
