Friends of Downtown has joined YoChicago in our Loop journal. For its first post, the group alerted us that Studio / Gang / Architects principal Jeanne Gang will be the guest speaker at Friends’ next brown bag luncheon lecture. Gang, whom we’ve spoken with before, will of course discuss the highly anticipated Aqua tower, which recently secured financing. The 286-unit development, which also includes a hotel and apartments, is 80 percent sold, but Gang won’t be on hand to discuss sales figures — she’ll be spilling all about the 82-story tower’s design. This free event happens from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15, Thursday, Mar. 1 at the Cassidy Theatre in the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E Washington St.
