Fire in 28-story Uptown high-rise

One woman was taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation after this morning’s Uptown highh-rise fire, according to media reports. Fire broke out in the 28-story building at 4343 N Clarendon around 3 a.m., started by a tenant’s religious candle. The Chicago Tribune reports that the hallway on the 20th floor, where the fire broke out, was equipped with a smoke detector but that the battery was low in power.
