Fortune study: Chicago housing in "danger zone"

The latest bubble story comes from Fortune magazine, which ranks 19 major markets as “dead zones,” “danger zones” and “safe havens.” If you haven’t already guessed that Chicago lands in the middling “danger zone” you have no right to live in this staid, middle-of-the-road Midwestern metropolis. Along with Seattle, Chicago is cited as being in only “moderate” danger, pretty comforting really when you hear Fortune’s take on Boston, where the study records home prices around 30 percent over fair market value. By way of comparison, Chicago’s homes are only overpriced by about 13 percent. For more insight, check out “Danger Zone,” the movie, starring Billy Zane and Robert Downey Jr.
