Get on your bike and explore Pilsen

If you enjoy gawking at real estate and architecture in different neighborhoods across the city, and want to get some exercise at the same time, dust off your bike and go for a ride with the Chicago Cycling Club.

The club has a packed schedule of rides planned for the next few months. We like the look of the Cinco De Mayo – Pilsen Tour on May 6. The cyclists will cruise past the Finkl Steel industrial plant before stopping for a feed at a local Mexican restaurant, and a 20-minute walking tour of the neighborhood.

The ride begins and ends in Lincoln Park. On the way back, the cyclists will pass through “rapidly gentrifying South Halsted Avenue” and Greek Town, according to the Web site.

The tours are usually free (except lunch costs), and you don’t have to be Lance Armstrong to keep up.
