Having a home inspector at your side

“One of the things that’s important to me would be the buyer having the right to bring a home inspector with them during the final inspection of the property prior to the closing,” says Lloyd Gussis in his interview with Joe Zekas about an attorney’s role in the home-buying process.

Having a home inspector by your side can have its ups and downs, Gussis says. An inspector can give buyers “a well-trained set of eyes” that are used to seeing the little things that can go wrong in a home’s construction. On the other side of the coin, developers don’t want to waste six hours going over a unit with a fine-toothed comb, so buyers should prepared to rein in their inspectors at times to avoid unwanted antagonism, he says.
