Home is where the heart is

Happy New Year “homies.” I’d like to share with you the wisdom (yes, wisdom) of real estate agent Fran Bailey at her Chicago Metro Real Estate blog. Bailey writes that her New Year’s resolution is to listen to clients more creatively. She’s observed that buyers’ needs and desires often change during the buying process. I agree. My husband and I thought we wanted to live in a “happening” neighborhood and assumed we’d have to buy a condo as we wouldn’t be able to afford a house in a desirable neighborhood.

As we started looking at condos and imagining our lives within their four walls, we realized that we wanted the privacy and space of a single-family home. We also began rethinking our definition of a good neighborhood. Those months of searching weren’t fruitless; we enter 2007 with a better sense of what we’re looking for. Anyone else have a homebuying epiphany to share?
