After checking out the building at 1217 W Augusta Blvd from the street earlier this week, I met with Paul Fortman from @properties on Friday to have a look at the interior. Since the building is practically on top of the Metra tracks, I wanted to be able to see how much vibration can be felt from inside when a train passes, but I didn’t have any such luck. Fortman says the developer has taken to measures to cut down on noise, and that it isn’t too bothersome. In fact, he says the buyers of the top-floor unit were actually drawn to building in part because of the tracks.

A single-floor two-bedroom / two-bath unit on the third floor is currently being rented, but Fortman is marketing it for $425,000. The unit that we looked at (and that can be seen in these photos) is the three-bedroom / two-bath duplex-down, which is priced in the $540s and can be rented for $3,000 per month. There are two points of entry – through the front, and through the garage – so the lower level, which has a bedroom, a bathroom and a living area with a wet bar, could serve as an in-law residence.

To my disappointment, that curved corner that can be seen from the street doesn’t seem to carry through to the condos. I think the stairwell actually runs next to that curve inside the building, and I didn’t even notice it as I was climbing the stairs.
