The Velvet Lounge managed to find new quarters at 67 E Cermak Rd, but another of Chicago’s iconic jazz clubs is in danger. Joe Segal’s Jazz Showcase, which is believed to be the country’s second oldest continuously operating jazz club, has lost its lease in River North, at 59 W Grand Ave, according to a story in today’s Chicago Tribune. Segal, who is 80, says he’s not sure what will happen, though he mentions the South Loop as a possible new location.
