Keeping our eye on Aqua at Lakeshore East

Aqua

There’s been much ado about Aqua, the 80-story Lakeshore East high-rise for which many Chicago architecture buffs have the greatest of expectations (and rightfully so — the building’s radical rippling design has a novelty that only the swirling Chicago Spire could best). While Yo reader Calumetman thinks it’s “an out-of-style architecture waiting to happen,” others are hailing it as a revolution. Whatever your opinion of the project, it’ll be fun to watch it go up. Several concrete columns are poking out of the site, at 225 N Columbus Dr, but soon workers will be using computer technology and GPS positioning systems to plot all the uniquely shaped floor plates. Of course, the Yo will keep you updated as Aqua rises.

About 87 percent of the 286 condos (the development also includes a hotel and rental component) have been sold, and remaining units are priced from the $650s to $3 million.
