Lights (out) on Broadway: Uptown conversion on hold at the moment

Lights on Broadway

We’ve long been curious about the three-story brick building on the southwest corner of Broadway and Leland, in Uptown‘s theater district. Last time we passed by, it appeared gutted and vacant.

A condo conversion called Lights on Broadway has been in the works for some time, says Robert Darrow, an @properties agent handling sales for the project. Plans call for retail on the ground level and 10 two-bedroom condos on the upper two floors, priced from $313,000 to $327,000.

A Web site for the project advertises spring 2007 occupancy, but that information is out of date, Darrow says, adding that he plans to make changes to the site soon. He says the project is stalled since the developers, led by Mike Krueger of LakePointe Development Group, have moved more slowly than anticipated. He plans to take the project off the market within the next couple of days, he says.

He expects to start sales in earnest within the next several months, after developers have built two model units, he says.
