Lincoln Park condos sport more silly balconies

Ravenswood

This new condo building sits next door to the picketers on the 1400 block of West Fullerton, and it’s a wonder architecture aficionados aren’t staging protests of their own. The builder obviously spent some bucks on the all-masonry construction and luxury finishes, and the outdoor space is fairly big and nicely sheltered. Things get ugly at the neoclassical entrance, though, which will give residents the warm feeling of living in a 19th century bank. A better feeling, we have to say, than the one you’ll get from the ridiculous, Georgian-looking balusters above, which are about as appropriate here as togas.

There is a rash of these balusters, by the way, in newer condo buildings on Lincoln Avenue. Is there anyone who doesn’t think these make for the silliest looking balconies around?

The condos at 1442 W Fullerton Ave have more than 1,500 square feet and include mahogany floors, cherry cabinets, three-piece crown moldings, stone and marble baths, and one or two parking spots per unit. Bryton Realty is marketing the project, which is scheduled for first occupancy in October.
