The new single-family homes at Wolfram Way in Lake View may have an understated modernism in their architecture, but the new house underway nearby on the 1800 block of West Wellington Avenue boldly announces itself with a wall of deeply tinted blue glass offset by cream-colored masonry. The inset terrace on the second floor also gives the house a nice sense of dimension and, at the very least, is a welcome break from the many flat-faced houses we see being built. The existing homes surrounding this one are traditional, making it stand out even more. An exception is the contemporary new-construction home to the east at 1832 W Wellington Ave. Koenig & Strey has that five-bedroom, 4,000-square-foot pad listed for $1.4 million, but we don’t have any sales information on this one.
