Motor Row Condominiums dresses the part

Motor Row

We’ve told you about Motor Row Condominiums, European developer Rokas International‘s $36 million new-construction condo building in the Motor Row District, and now we can offer you a peek at what it will look like. The seven-story building, designed by Fitzgerald Associates Architects, is unabashedly trying to fit in with the rest of the architecture on the block.

To keep the building in scale with the old auto showrooms surrounding it, three different brick colors and style elements will be used to give the appearance of three separate, smaller buildings. Windows on the two ground-floor retail spaces, totaling 8,520 square feet, will reach 14 feet high. There is also an old-fashioned clock atop the northernmost building.

There are 94 condos at Motor Row, located at 2300 S Michigan Ave. Units have one or two bedrooms, 696 to 1,279 square feet and terraces or private rooftop decks. Prices range from the $190s to the $400s. Parking costs an additional $25,000, and, according to the Web site, the developer is offering a 42-inch plasma television, surround sound, and an iPod docking station to the “first buyers.” Incentives like these have been the talk of the Yo today.
