The sprawling commercial space at the New City development along Halsted and Clybourn is mostly topped out.
When we stopped by on Saturday there was construction activity underway, and the 199-unit apartment tower had reached nearly two-thirds of its ultimate 19-story height.
There’s been a lot of juvenile snarking around the web about New City’s design, but I’m betting that will be overlooked by renters who value having spectacular skyline views, Mariano’s, ArcLight theaters and a raft of retail on-site, as well as being a short walk from Whole Foods, the CTA Red Line stop at Clybourn and scores of nearby restaurants, bars and theaters.
