New Lakeside Lofts condos good with green, bad with banners

Lakeside Lofts sales center

We know developers are blanketing every available space in the South Loop with advertisements for their new developments, but we can’t believe this banner for Frankel & Giles’ Lakeside Lofts is doing much to draw foot traffic into the sales center. The developer’s office is just down the street, but the arrow points directly into a 12-inch wide alley next to one of the nastier underpasses (even by Chicago standards) we’ve seen.
Despite the poorly placed banner, we’re still pretty jazzed about the green features at Lakeside Lofts, located at 2025 S Indiana Ave. The building will have solar panels on the roof that supplement electricity to light the common areas, aluminum solar shades that block the high summer sun while still letting in daylight, a botanical garden on the roof and interiot paints low in volatile organic compounds. Upgrades are also available for environmentally friendly bamboo or mesquite (mmm…) hardwood floors and electrostatic air filters in the ducts.

The development has 100 condos with one or two bedrooms and prices ranging from the $200s to the $400s.
