New low-income rental apartments for Chicago seniors

We told you earlier this week about the new affordable housing for seniors at Belle Plaine Commons. What we didn’t mention was that the same site, the North Center Senior Campus, bounded by Irving Park Road, Western Avenue, Belle Plaine Avenue and Oakley Avenue, includes two new rental complexes for seniors.

On Saturday, developer North Center Senior Housing L.P. unveiled the Martha Washington Apartments, a mid-rise, 104-unit rental building primarily aimed at low-income seniors, but with a small market-rate component as well.

Late last year ground broke on Catholic Charities’ Housing Development Corp.’s St. Vincent DePaul Residences, an 84-unit, Section 202 development. The apartments should be ready for occupancy in early 2007.

A health clinic is also conveniently located at the site.
