At this time last year there were 304 MLS-listed homes and condos for rent in Chicago’s North Shore communities. As of this morning that number is 234, barely above the low since we began tracking more than a year ago. Thirty-six new listings came to market within the last 7 days and remain available.
Our spotlight rental this week is at 319 Richmond Rd in Kenilworth, a 5-bedroom, 3 ½ bath home on a 75 x 175 lot half a block from the Kenilworth Metra station. The home has just been offered for rent at $4,800 a month. It’s been on the market for sale for over 4 months and is currently listed at $1,195,000. With a $20K property tax bill the math appears to favor renting.
The home is listed with Coldwell Banker’s Barbara Mawicke, who probably knows Kenilworth housing better than anyone in the business.
