When we saw that the new single-family house at 4831 S Champlain Ave in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood (now commonly referred to as Bronzeville) was named Opulence, we had visions of rooms plated in gold and servants flitting about in Marie Antoinette costumes. Opulence doesn’t offer these riches, but it has plenty of other perks: 3,700 square feet, five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a detached two-car garage. The gourmet kitchen is decked out with commercial appliances, granite counters, custom cabinets and a wine rack. The master suite and the living room are accented by wood-burning fireplaces. The basement includes a wet bar, room for an office and – our favorite touch – a sauna. Coldwell Banker Hyde Park’s Gwendolene Newton has the Opulence listed at $920,000.
