One of the many galleries in the neighborhood– Polvo, located at 1458 W 18th St– is hosting a special exhibition of films at 7:15 p.m. this Friday. The four films, ranging from five to 68 minutes in length, were created by Shikshantar: The People’s Institute for Rethinking Education and Development for a festival taking place in India. Dialogue is in Hindi with English subtitles.
Topics revolve around education and include the wisdom of a Gandhian thinker, children living in non-literate communities in India, the biological instinct toward learning, and the struggle to preserve traditional art forms in the face of modernity.
