According to Crain’s Chicago Business, AvalonBay Communities, a major residential developer, is deferring plans to build a 1,000-unit apartment complex in the South Loop.
Walter Rebenson, vice-president of development in Chicago for the Alexandria, Va.-based company, told Crain’s that “You’re crazy if you’re developing right now. The job losses are massive.”
