Riding the rails: Lakefront high-rise homes near the Granville station

East Point, 6101 N Sheridan Rd, Chicago, photo by VHTI left you hanging at the Loyola Red Line station for two months! Time to get back on the train and keep heading south. Upon crossing Devon Avenue, we move from Rogers Park to Edgewater, and make our first stop at the Granville station, located one small block east of Granville and Broadway.

Walk east from the station for four minutes and you’re at the lake. From here, you’ll notice the small Berger Park immediately to the north, and several condo high-rises to the south. This morning I pulled up information on these lakefront towers in the 6100 block of North Sheridan Road — below is a bit of what I found.

Park Edgewater, 6101 N Sheridan Rd:

  • Built in 1928.
  • Homes for sale: One-bedrooms from the $80s to $130s; two-bedrooms in the $150s; a three-bedroom in the $350s; a four-bedroom in the $790s.
  • Average days on market: 134
  • 2008 taxes: $1,223 on average; $127,741 in total.
  • No sales recorded in the past six months.

East Point (pictured), 6101 N Sheridan Road E:

  • Built in 1968.
  • Homes for sale: Two-bedrooms from the $280s to $390s; three-bedrooms from the $340s to $390s.
  • Average days on market: 121
  • 2008 taxes: $3,157 on average; $530,910 in total.
  • Sales since March: Two two-bedrooms in the $240s and $280s; two three-bedrooms in the $250s and $340s.

Tiara, 6145 – 6147 N Sheridan Rd:

  • Built in 1968.
  • Homes for sale: Two-bedrooms from the $140s to $240s; three-bedrooms from the $260s to $280s.
  • Average days on market: 123
  • 2008 taxes: $1,630 on average; $179,914 in total.
  • Sales since March: One two-bedroom in the $150s.

El Lago, 6157 N Sheridan Rd:
