Searching for distress in Albany Park: Signs of life on Drake Avenue

After hearing Alderman Dick Mell describe the wave of foreclosures hitting Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood, we were imagining the worst. That’s why it came a such a surprise to not only see very few boardups during a recent neighborhood drive-around, but at least one street where the community seemed to be thriving. Follow us on a walk around the Drake Gardens and the sidewalks of Drake Avenue, and decide for yourself whether the neighborhood is as blighted as some have described.
