Manifest art party hits South Loop streets

Columbia College promises to help you “finally discover what the South Loop buzz is all about” when 2,000 graduating students (and their artwork) take to the streets May 12 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m in a massive urban arts festival. The Manifest festival calendar includes exhibitions, live music, performances, and even a “giant street spectacle.”

We aren’t sure exactly what the “street spectacle” will be, but we have to say that the influx of students and new student housing to the neighborhood over the last few years already has given the streets of the South Loop a new and interesting look.

We predict plenty of good people-watching at the festival, as the cardigan-clad art folk celebrate en masse. Too lazy to make it to the South Loop? Catch the action via all-day web cam here.
