New seniors apartments open on Chicago's Southwest Side

When we first heard the name Senior Campus, we have to admit we were thinking beer bongs, frat parties and hazing, so we were just a tad disappointed to realize the full name was Churchview Senior Campus and that the seniors in question weren’t worried about taking finals or finding their first jobs. The Greater Southwest Development Corporation has opened two new rental complexes for those in their mid-60s and older, Churchview Senior Campus, at 2626 W 63rd St and Lawn Terrace, at 3214 W 63rd St.

With one bedrooms running $514 to $600, we were surprised at the number of goodies included in the rent – weekly shopping trips, exercise classes, field trips and arts and crafts. In fact, the only real gripe we have is the names themselves. Sure, people tend to mellow out as they age, but Lawn Terrace? Churchview Senior Campus? Got a better name in mind?
