Superfan is campaigning for Marshall Field's to return by Christmas 2008

The New York Times, in “Loss of a Beloved Department Store Breeds a New Kind of Superfan,” reports on the anger, and in some cases, ambivalence, that Chicagoans are showing toward the new Macy’s store, four months after it replaced Marshall Field’s on State Street.

Outside the store, The Times interviewed architecture professor Jim McKay, who was handing out leaflets and urging shoppers to boycott Macy’s. “We think it’s reasonable to have Field’s back for Christmas 2008,” McKay was quoted as saying.
