The great Bridgeport / Bucktown divide

This particular cog in the YoChicago wheel never ceases to be amazed by the city’s Great Divide. Last night, Yo’s truly was sitting in a bar in Bridgeport watching the Sox pulverize the Cardinals (the ka-boom of the home run-fireworks four blocks away had a nice surround-sound feel).

We were having a lively conversation with the friendly woman behind the bar. She asked us where we lived. “Bucktown,” we told her.

“Where is that, exactly?” the woman asked.

“It’s near Wicker Park,” Yo said.

“Oh, Wicker Park!” the woman exclaimed. “I know that place – I saw the movie.”
