The South Loop's $10,000 rental

One Museum Park, 1211 S Prairie Ave, Chicago

If the $10,000-a-month price tag for a South Loop rental left you gobsmacked, you’re not alone. I see those rates in the Gold Coast and in high-profile condo towers north of the river, but no so much in the 60605 ZIP code. I had to know — what kind of condo could command such a kingly rent?

A One Museum Park penthouse, apparently. 1211 S Prairie Ave #6001 is a three-bedroom / three-bath penthouse with 2,924 square feet, located on the tower’s northeast corner. Two parking spaces are included with the rent.

The home was listed by Ralph Oliva, One Museum Park’s exclusive broker, back in January 2009 for $2.74 million and sold in November for $2.6 million. Unlike a lot of South Loop condo rentals, it does not appear to have a concurrent listing for resale.

You can see the unit’s interior design — pretty standard for a One Museum Park condo, from what I can tell — and its views of Grant Park and the Museum Campus in this VHT slideshow. Its floor plan, still available on the One Museum Park website, is available below.
