Two different Web sites for Lincoln Park 2520 development

We stumbled across a Web site this morning about the Lincoln Park 2520 development which had us a little puzzled. The name of the Web site is Lincoln Park 2520 Neighbors, which seems to imply that a community group is involved in creating it. That surprised us, as local residents have been critical of the development, and the content of this Web site doesn’t reflect that.

The site features a development logo, a rendering, a link to the developer, site utilization maps and a copy of an agreement that was apparently brokered between the developer and community groups. The site was established by MB Real Estate and when you click on “About the project” it provides contact details for a person at MB and says that the Web site was created to keep the Lincoln Park community informed of the project, but doesn’t say exactly who set up the site and whether there was any community input.

The Web site’s name and URL (2520neighbors.com) are a little misleading, and the developer should really overtly state on the landing page that it’s a developer-created Web site – otherwise, why not just post all this information at the development’s regular Web site? (Which, incidentally, contains virtually no information).

Already people seem confused about the source of the “Lincoln Park 2520 Neighbors” Web site. One local real estate agent, who has his own blog covering general real estate issues and observations, linked to the Lincoln Park 2520 Neighbors site, describing it on his blog as “a great resource” created by “the neighborhood association.” The agent tells us that he didn’t realize that MB Real Estate set up the site until Yo’s truly asked him about the site and he checked it out a little further…..
