Two homes still available at Bridgeport Commons

Bridgeport Commons, 37th and Lowe Streets

“These are what I would call Prairie style homes, and they fit so well in this neighborhood. And another thing, a very important thing: these are very wide city lots, so the houses are 30 feet wide, and that makes a huge difference in the way the homes can be designed.”

– Karen Ranquist of Ranquist Development speaking to New Homes magazine writer Dan Schuyler in October 2005 about Bridgeport Commons just before construction began on the development’s 21 single-family homes.

Yo profiled the development again in July 2006, when construction was finishing up, and at that time the homes were priced from the $620s to the $790s. Then, in 2007, when the last half-dozen homes weren’t selling, the developer reduced the prices on two separate occasions by as much as $40,000.

Now, more than years later, there are still two unsold homes at 3621 and 3659 S Canal St in Bridgeport, and they’re priced in the $570s and the $590s. According to the Jameson Real Estate listings, both homes have four bedrooms and 3.5 baths. Exact square footage isn’t provided, but the listing description of the home at 3621 South Canal says, “Wow- OVER 4000sf of extra wide home,” and according to a previous Yo post, all of the homes in the development have 3,500 to 4,100 square feet of space.
