Update: dance all night in Chicago's Loop

Millennium Park

We’ve already given you a heads up on Looptopia, the Chicago Loop Alliance‘s all-night arts and cultural festival in the Loop. The Chicago Tribune today reports on yesterday’s Looptopia kickoff party, where the Loop Alliance’s executive director, Ty Tabing, revealed more details about the activities in store for the first annual (fingers crossed…) event. The Joffrey Ballet has confirmed a sunrise performance in Millennium Park, where there will also be music, yoga and a free breakfast buffet.

Other dance performances will be staged on loading docks, a cabaret show will squeeze into an alley, and revelers will supply their own music and headphones for a “silent dance party.” Other activities include a dodgeball match in a Plexiglas cage, architectural tours from the elevated trains and a talent competition called “Opera Idol.” The action begins at dusk on May 11 and ends at dawn.
