Van Buren Lofts balconies have great views over parking – for now

The views from these balconies aren’t great so far, but they’ll improve dramatically once the developers behind Van Buren Lofts put a few feet between the steel mesh and the parking lot where the perches have been waiting patiently for installation. With fair-sized balconies and floor-to-ceiling glass, north-facing condos in the building, at 1224 W Van Buren St, offer good city and skyline vistas, but buyers have to consider the potential for a new view-blocking building on this open land in the booming West Loop.

Maybe the perks promoted on the project’s Web site – the print and background will make your eyes bleed, so don’t worry about missing them – are worth this sword of Damocles. New West Realty is offering bonuses including free washers and dryers, paid closing costs, one year of no assessments, $3,500 in upgrade credits and more. Prices range from the $250s to the $560s, and parking is $29,900 per indoor spot.

Here’s how the balconies look after they’re attached.

South-facing buyers at Van Buren Lofts will have their views protected as long as the adjacent Eisenhower Expressway sticks around.
