It’s Old Town Triangle day here at the Yo, so today we’ll bring you photos and news from the tiny wedge of the north lakefront bounded by North Avenue on the south, Armitage Avenue on the north and Lincoln Park on the east. The western boundary follows Old Ogden Avenue, a street that no longer exists (you can see it on the map at right – click for a larger view).
A sub-neighborhood of Lincoln Park, one of the city’s most desirable and established areas, Old Town Triangle has narrow, tree-lined streets and historic houses built mostly in the decades following the Chicago Fire in 1871. It was home to one of the nation’s first neighborhood revitalization efforts in 1940 (looks like that’s paid off, eh?) and was designated a landmark district in 1977.
