It seems strange that a master plan for redeveloping Navy Pier should be entrusted to a Toronto-based consultant. We don’t mean to diss Forrec Ltd. but as we’ve said previously, it’s draft plan seems a little fantastic, in the worst sense of the word (Ok, we do mean to diss them). Perhaps the company should stick to designing Canadian water parks, and the city of Chicago should harness some of the great architectural talent at its disposal. We read recently in the Chicago Tribune that Laurence Booth of respected local firm Booth Hansen suggested putting together a Chicago team to respond “to the Canadian plan.” We hope that’s more than just windy talk.
