2010 forecast: When will things improve?

If you feel like you’re hearing a different story about the “real” market conditions every time a new report hits the news wire, you’re right. There’s tremendous volatility right now in terms of home sales and prices, says University of Illinois professor Geoffrey Hewings. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, either, because the market has at least stopped it’s consistent downward trend. “It’s basically saying it doesn’t know where it wants to go,” Hewings says. He offered observations and more during a presentation at the Chicago Association of Realtors‘ 2010 Economic Forecast panel last week.
