I stopped by the new 52-story North Water apartment tower in Streeterville yesterday morning for a brief visit. The building is poised to move in its first residents early next month, and will have all of its apartments ready for occupancy by April 1.
The lobby, pictured above, is raised half a level above the entry level, and it sets a tone of quiet sophistication for the building.
Work was underway in many of the areas I visited, on what was partially a hardhat tour. The fifteenth floor amenities include a fitness center, a resident lounge, a small part of which is pictured above, a fully-equipped kitchen, a business center, a media room, and a deck with an outdoor pool, seating areas and gas grills.
There’s an additional party room / lounge on the 50th floor, and an outdoor deck at that level.
A new Loews hotel occupies the lower floors of the building, but hotel guests don’t have access to any of the resident amenities.
The fitness center, which has a wall of windows looking out toward the lake, was nearly complete.
Two model apartments were open for viewing, a spacious studio and a southeast corner 2-bedroom, 2-bath.
The studio’s floor-to-ceiling windows serve up great views of the lake and, in season, the fireworks at Navy Pier.
The 2-bedroom, 2-bath model had two walls of windows, a spacious living / dining area with an open-plan kitchen and a recessed balcony.
The model had the preferred split-bedroom layout.
North Water qualifies as a “view building.” Weather conditions contributed to my not being able to show you the best views, but I’ll remedy that at a later date.
The northwest corner 2-bedroom, 2-bath units have some of the most dramatic views in the building, ranging from the Aon Center on the south to the Hancock on the north. These apartments have unusually large living / dining areas, balconies and two walls of windows. I’m guessing that they’ll rent quickly.
